Welcome to BetterLink. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create a BetterLink account, we collect your email address, name, and password. Your password is stored securely using industry-standard hashing. We also store the Amazon affiliate tags you configure for each storefront. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google but not your Google password.
Link and Usage Data
We store the links you create (including the original Amazon URL, product identifier, and any notes), aggregated daily click statistics broken down by country and device type, site integration configurations if you use the Smart Router, and custom domain settings. We do not store individual click events or visitor identities.
Billing Information
Payment processing is handled by a third-party payment processor. We store references to your customer and subscription IDs but do not store your credit card number, bank account details, or other payment credentials.
YouTube Integration Data
If you connect your YouTube account to use our link transfer feature, we access your YouTube channel name, channel ID, video titles, and video descriptions via the YouTube API Services. This data is used solely to scan for existing affiliate links and replace them with BetterLinks in your video descriptions. We do not access your subscribers, analytics, revenue, comments, likes, or watch history. Your YouTube OAuth tokens are stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and are deleted immediately when you disconnect your YouTube account. You can disconnect at any time from your dashboard settings. BetterLink's use of YouTube API Services is subject to the YouTube API Services Terms of Service. You can also review Google's Privacy Policy for information about how Google handles your data. You may revoke BetterLink's access to your Google account at any time via your Google security settings.
Analytics
We use privacy-focused analytics on our marketing website to understand aggregate usage patterns. This data is anonymous and does not personally identify you.
Contact Form Submissions
If you contact us via our form, we collect your name, email address, and message solely to respond to your inquiry.
Visitor Geolocation & Server Logs
When someone clicks a BetterLink, we detect their country to redirect them to the appropriate Amazon storefront. We store only the country code as part of aggregated statistics — not IP addresses or precise locations. Our infrastructure providers may log request data (IP addresses, timestamps, pages accessed) for security and debugging purposes.
2. Information We Don't Collect
We do not track or store individual visitors who click your BetterLinks — only aggregated daily statistics. When someone clicks a BetterLink, we do not collect their name, email, or personal information. BetterLink does not set cookies for tracking purposes; we use session cookies only for authenticated users to maintain login state.
3. Third-Party Services
We work with trusted third-party service providers to operate BetterLink:
- Payment Processing — Your payment information is collected and processed directly by our payment provider. We do not store payment credentials.
- Authentication — If you sign in with Google, Google shares your basic profile information with us.
- Infrastructure — We use service providers for hosting, content delivery, email delivery, and security.
- Amazon — We interact with Amazon services to verify products and redirect visitors. When visitors click BetterLinks and visit Amazon, Amazon's privacy policy applies.
- YouTube (Google) — If you use our YouTube link transfer feature, we access your video descriptions via the YouTube API Services to find and replace affiliate links. See the Google Privacy Policy for how Google handles your data.
We require our service providers to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify. We do not sell your personal information.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to provide and maintain the BetterLink service, redirect visitors to their local Amazon storefront with your affiliate tags, generate click analytics for your dashboard, process payments and manage your subscription, send transactional emails, respond to support inquiries, improve our service, and prevent abuse.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete all your data including account information, links, click statistics, site integrations, API keys, and custom domain configurations. This deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data, including password hashing, encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure authentication, and rate limiting. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
7. Your Rights
You can access, update, and delete your data through your dashboard and settings. You can also opt out of marketing analytics using browser tools or extensions.
For EU/EEA Residents (GDPR)
You have additional rights including rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection to processing, and lodging complaints with supervisory authorities. Our legal basis for processing is contract performance, legitimate interest, and consent where applicable.
For California Residents (CCPA)
We do not sell personal information. You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
8. International Data Transfers
BetterLink is operated from the United States. By using our service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.
9. Age Requirement
BetterLink is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date on this page. For significant changes, we may also send an email notification.
