Privacy Policy

Most Recommended Books, LLC, doing business as BetterLink ("BetterLink," "we," "us," or "our"), operates the BetterLink service and is responsible for the account and product data described here. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create a BetterLink account, we collect your email address, name, and password. Your password is stored securely using industry-standard hashing. We also store the Amazon affiliate tags you configure for each storefront. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google but not your Google password.

Link and Usage Data

We store the managed links you create, including Amazon URLs or other HTTP(S) destinations, destination type, product identifiers where applicable, affiliate-handling policy, and notes. We also store aggregate click statistics by date, country, device type, and broad source; site integration settings; custom domains; and operational information needed to route and maintain links. Unavailable-product reports may include an aggregated, sanitized source page so you can find where a link needs repair. We remove query strings, fragments, and embedded credentials from those source-page reports.

Billing Information

Stripe and its affiliates, including Link where Managed Payments applies, process payments and transaction support. We store customer and subscription references, subscription status, billing-period dates, plan and add-on state, discounts, usage reporting state, and payment-failure status. We do not store full payment-card or bank-account credentials.

YouTube Integration Data

If you connect your YouTube account to use our link transfer feature, we access your YouTube channel name, channel ID, video titles, and video descriptions via the YouTube API Services. This data is used solely to scan for existing affiliate links and replace them with BetterLinks in your video descriptions. We do not access your subscribers, analytics, revenue, comments, likes, or watch history. YouTube OAuth tokens are encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and retained only while your authorization remains active. YouTube API Data is refreshed whenever you rescan your channel and is automatically refreshed or deleted within 30 days. Disconnecting YouTube or deleting your BetterLink account revokes BetterLink's access and immediately removes the OAuth tokens, channel metadata, scan cache, transfer reports, and YouTube migration source metadata stored by BetterLink. This does not delete or change content hosted on YouTube. Existing BetterLinks remain functional after their YouTube source metadata is removed. You can disconnect at any time from your dashboard settings. BetterLink's use of YouTube API Services is subject to the YouTube API Services Terms of Service. You can also review Google's Privacy Policy for information about how Google handles your data. You may revoke BetterLink's access to your Google account at any time via your Google security settings.

Aizen Analytics

We use Aizen's cookieless website tracker to measure pages, referrer domains, campaigns, browser and device categories, approximate location, and day-scoped visits. The tracker does not set analytics cookies or local storage, create cross-site or cross-day identifiers, or retain raw IP addresses in its analytics database. Its metadata and short-lived pseudonymous session measurements may nevertheless be personal or pseudonymous data under some laws.

BetterLink also uses Aizen's product SDK for account-linked product analytics. We send a BetterLink account identifier, signup and onboarding timestamps, and product milestones such as reviewing analytics or creating a first link. Limited session storage prevents the same milestone from being sent repeatedly during one browser session.

Contact Form Submissions

If you contact us, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, message, and related correspondence, to respond and maintain support records.

Feedback Submissions

When you submit a bug report or feature request through the authenticated Feedback Center, we store the feedback text and any screenshots you choose to upload. Feedback is linked to your account so that only you and BetterLink can access it.

Visitor Geolocation & Server Logs

When someone follows a BetterLink, request information is used to select an Amazon storefront or resolve the stored external destination and to produce aggregate click reporting. BetterLink stores country and device categories rather than IP addresses in click records. Infrastructure, authentication, security, and analytics providers may transiently process or log IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested page, and similar request metadata for routing, security, rate limiting, approximate location, and debugging.

2. Information We Don't Collect

BetterLink does not store names, email addresses, raw IP addresses, or persistent visitor profiles in managed-link click records. Click reporting is aggregated, and source-page reports omit query strings and fragments. This does not mean that every request is anonymous: infrastructure providers process request metadata, and Aizen processes the website and account-linked analytics described above. BetterLink does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

We work with trusted third-party service providers to operate BetterLink:

Billing and Payments: Stripe and Link process checkout, subscriptions, taxes where applicable, refunds, disputes, and transaction support. We do not store full payment credentials.
Authentication: If you sign in with Google, Google shares your basic profile information with us.
Infrastructure: We use service providers for hosting, content delivery, email delivery, security, operational alerts, customer support, and error handling.
Product and Website Analytics: Aizen processes cookieless website measurements and the account-linked lifecycle and milestone events described above.
Amazon: We interact with Amazon services to verify products and redirect visitors. Amazon's privacy policy applies once a visitor reaches an Amazon service.
YouTube (Google): If you use our YouTube link transfer feature, we access your video descriptions via the YouTube API Services to find and replace affiliate links. See the Google Privacy Policy for how Google handles your data.

Managed links may also send visitors to customer-selected external websites. BetterLink does not control those destinations, and their own privacy notices apply after redirect.

Providers process information for their services under applicable contracts and policies. We do not sell personal information.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide and maintain the BetterLink service; route managed links to Amazon or stored external destinations; generate click analytics; manage authentication, subscriptions, billing, and account deletion; provide YouTube and other requested integrations; send transactional emails; respond to support and feedback; understand product use; maintain security; and prevent fraud or abuse.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We generally retain active account, link, analytics, integration, and subscription data while your account is open. Deleting your account removes the active account and its associated links, click statistics, settings, credentials, domains, integrations, API keys, and feedback from BetterLink's active database. Limited pseudonymous records showing the legal-document versions presented, billing references, subscription-cancellation result, and account deletion time are retained for three years after account deletion, then automatically purged. These audit records do not retain your name or email address.

Open Feedback Center content remains available until it is resolved and is deleted seven days after resolution. YouTube API Data follows the schedule described above. Infrastructure logs, transaction-provider records, and disaster-recovery backups may remain for their applicable security, legal, fraud-prevention, or recovery periods before aging out.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data, including password hashing, encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure authentication, and rate limiting. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

7. Your Rights

You can access and update account information through your dashboard and delete your account through Settings. You may also contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or to object to processing where applicable. Some requests may be limited by identity verification, legal obligations, or information that BetterLink no longer holds in identifiable form.

For EU/EEA Residents (GDPR)

You have additional rights including rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection to processing, and lodging complaints with supervisory authorities. Depending on the activity, our legal bases include performance of our contract, compliance with legal obligations, legitimate interests in operating, securing, supporting, and improving the service, and consent where applicable.

For California Residents (CCPA)

We do not sell personal information. You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.

8. International Data Transfers

BetterLink is operated from the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. Those jurisdictions may have different data-protection laws from your home jurisdiction.

9. Age Requirement

BetterLink is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date on this page. For significant changes, we may also send an email notification.
